Ten Commandments Required in Louisiana Schools [1]
Starting Friday, February 20th, all public school classrooms are required to display the ten commandments from the bible. The law requiring the posting of the ten commandments was implemented in 2024 but quickly blocked by lower courts. Through a process of appeals the U.S Court of Appeals decided to discard all decisions made by lower courts including one that described the law as “plainly unconstitutional.” Louisiana’s attorney general in response to the clearing says that "don't kill or steal shouldn’t be controversial.” Many people criticize the law for blending church and state within the school system. This is the first time a law like this has been enacted since the supreme court denied a 1980 Kentucky law of the same nature saying that it was “plainly religious in nature.”
