The sounds of the fourth

The Fourth of July is one of the longest-running holidays in American history, being officially recognized in 1870 as an unpaid federal holiday alongside Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Year's. This holiday is marked by backyard barbecues, fireworks, and family time. America, just like any other country, is flawed, but it is important that we recognize the sacrifices that have been given to grant people the freedoms they have today.
America’s favorite pastime, baseball, is one of the only sports with an active regular season for the holiday. Because of that, they often change an array of things in observation of it. You might see players wear altered uniforms, donning a jersey with stripes and stars or red, white and blue. Sometimes, teams will invite military personnel for free or host pregame ceremonies to honor them. Some franchises even go as far as to start their games earlier in the afternoon so that attendees of the game have time for whatever other celebrations they have that day.
