On November 14th, the Shreveport Journalism Foundation will announce their annual scholarship winners. Two applicants have been selected from a pool of journalism and public relations majors from colleges near Shreveport to receive recognition for their journalistic excellence. The pool of applicants consists of students from a variety of colleges, including LSUS, NSU, and ULM.
The winners of these awards will receive one of two scholarships created to further journalistic education: the Garland Scholarship and the Dodson Scholarship. These scholarships were established in honor of Kerry Garland and Orland Dodson, whose contributions to journalism in Shreveport continue to leave a lasting impact through the support of young journalists.
The announcement meeting will take place at 7 pm on November 14th at Walk-On Sports Bistreaux on Youree Drive.
